28 weeks!

We're into the third trimester and now have to go to Dr.'s office every two weeks. Holly is eating like a horse, and Riley is stretching out in his new home. He is going to be an active kid, because he is doing somersaults in his mom's stomach! He pushes back when I push on her stomach, and it is great. Dr. says everything looks good and baby and mom are healthy!

Nursery Ideas

Apparently a kids room has to be decorated??? These things are all new to a first time father, but when I think about my childhood I remember dinosaurs and baseball stuff, and race cars all over the walls and sheets and everything. Nowadays I'd imagine people make a killing off of suckers like me who want their kid to have a cool room. That being said, here is our ideas for how we're going to decorate Riley's room. It'll be cool with old sports gear...time to start hitting up garage sales for old sports memorabilia!

Our Baby's Name!

So, most people play their cards pretty close to their chest when picking out a kid's name. Not us! We have a name that we have come to love and are 99.9% sure that it is our son's first name.

We love the name Riley! It is an Irish name that means valiant and courageous.

I liked it first a few months ago, and then a mentor, colleague, and dear friend of mine passed away. His last name was Riley, and was a man that I want our son to be like. He was committed to helping young men through coaching and education, two things that Holly and I are passionate about.

We love the name and don't really care about anyone's opinions of it unless they are good!!! (just joking, but seriously) We are interested in a middle name. The two we have it narrowed down to are:

Riley Joshua or Riley Jonathon.

Holly likes Riley Joshua after his dad, and I like Riley Jonathon after his uncle. (who is my favorite guy in the world)

Let us know what you think!

The mother of my child (my baby's mama!)

I heard a football coach once say that he definitely out kicked his coverage when he married his wife. I have always felt the same is true about me. I am "that guy." You know, the guy that everyone wonders how he got her to marry him. I am thankful for my wife every day, and I am happy that our son gets to grow up with such a great woman.

My wife is the most loving, intelligent, creative, funny, and beautiful person I have ever met. Holly can make the worst day feel like the best, she lights up a room when she walks in, and makes every person she meets feel like they are the most important person on the planet.

Her heart for Jesus, and her love for the people Jesus loved amazes me everyday. She genuinely cares for those who are hurting in a way I will never understand. I always tell people that if I wasn't around she would give everything we own to those in need.

Our son is in for a treat when he gets to meet his mother for the first time and all of the days after that. He will grow up learning how to love, how to value the diversity in the world, possibly speaking Spanish! These are all things I'm not good at, and would never be able to teach our children as well as Holly will.

The best thing about my wife is that she loves me. She knows all of my flaws and mistakes and loves me for who I am. Thank you for loving me Holly, and for all of the things you're going to teach our son. You're the best!
